Sterilization containers

For long-term contamination-protected storage of sterilized materials, it is necessary to sterilize them in packagings compliant with standards in the autoclave in such a way that the sterilization packages can be removed sterile and dry after the end of the program. Only this way sterilized materials can be stored in protected and dry storage (e.g. cabinet, drawer) for a longer period.

MELAG sterilization containers have perforations in the bottom and in the lid, which are covered germ-tight by a special one-way paper filter that has to be exchanged for every sterilization. In accordance with the European Standard EN 868-8, MELAG sterilization containers are secured with a latch and are provided with a cover seal. The sterilization containers can be opened in the presence of the patient to demonstrate that the practice takes great pain for hygienic.

For the release of the instruments sterilized in containers and the traceability of the instruments employed on the patient to a specific sterilization batch, the containers can simply be identified with the MELAdoc Lable Printer. MELAG offers the Helix Test MELAcontrol as batch control for the documented evidence of the successful sterilization in "Class B" autoclaves. The automatic documentation of the sterilization performed can be very simple and cost-effective depending on autoclave type by using the MELAflash, MELAprint 42 or MELAwin.

Tray cassettes

If an active inventory of the same type and number of instruments is always employed in the practice during various treatments or examinations, then it is economically advisable to collect these in sets. The set is completely prepared, sterilized in the cassettes and made available at the treatment area. This avoids unnecessary trips and waiting times when an instrument is missing.

MELAG offers the standard tray-cassettes (19 x 29 x 4 cm) for this purpose, which provides sufficient space for most instruments. The MELAG autoclaves of the series Pro-Class and S-Class are equipped with the combination mounting "C" to fit six trays or three standard-tray-cassettes. Alternatively these devices can also be equipped with the mounting "B" to fit four standard tray cassettes.

The MELAG standard-tray-cassettes are perforated in the bottom and lid and are alternatively deliverable with or without filter cloth insert. If the materials that are sterilized in the standard-tray-cassettes are to go into long-term storage, then the See-through sterilization packages MELAfol (e.g. Article No. 02502, 02051) are available. The swab drums 17R and 23R are suited for the sterilization of swabs that are either consumed at short notice or used in an unsterile state.

MELAseal 100

Permanent Heated Package
Sealing Device

Sterilization in an autoclave is the safest way for prevention of infections. After sterilization, however, care must be taken that instruments are not contaminated again. The MELAseal 100 Package Sealing Device can effectively seal sterilized instruments so that they are stored while being safely protected against contamination. Without great physical effort, these two models produce optimal sealing seams 10 mm wide, with precise sealing pressure. The german standard DIN 58953 specifies sealing seams at least 8 mm wide. The working table is integrated in the housing of the device.

After the operator switches on the power, it takes approx. 2 minutes until the cold unit heats up to operating temperature. When the signal lamp goes off, this means that the MELAseal 100 is in the ready mode and can go to work. When the operator turns the crank, this presses the pressure bar against the heated aluminium rail. After only 2 seconds, the sterilization wrapper has been properly sealed in accordance with relevant standards, with a sealing seam of 10 mm width.

The integrated cutter cuts off the See-through sterilization packages (e.g. MELAfol) to the required length during the sealing procedure. MELAseal 100 is conceived for the practice in which numerous instruments are sealed in See-through sterilization packages (e.g. MELAfol) at certain times of the day within a relatively short time period, for instance before the midday break or when the practice is closing.

The final sterilization in the MELAG autoclaves of the series Premium-Class, Pro-Class, Vacuquick and S-Class is the surest way to prevent infection transfers, and complies with all legal and normative requirements. After sterilization, the packaged goods are stored dustproof for a long period of storage.

Three reell dispensers are deliverable for the package sealing device MELAseal 100:

The reell dispenser "standard" (Art. No. 110)
is practical and inexpensive, but requires some space behind the MELAseal device.

The reell dispenser "advanced" (Art. No. 111)
is extremely space-saving because the rolls are located above the equipment.

The Wall reell dispenser (Art. No. 106)
has the same advantages of a stable roller guide as the roll holder "Comfort", but it is still space-saving because it can be attached to the wall. The MELAseal itself is standardly prepared for wall-mounting.

MELAfol

See-through sterilization packages

For long-term contamination-protected storage of sterilized materials, it is necessary to sterilize them in packagings compliant with standards in the autoclave in such a way that the sterilization packages can be removed sterile and dry after the end of the program. Only this way sterilized materials can be stored in protected and dry storage (e.g. cabinet, drawer) for a longer period.

MELAfol is a combination paper-film package and has the advantage that the wrapped goods can be seen through the foil. The package is opened by pulling apart the 10-mm-wide seal in the direction of the arrow and can be done in the presence of the patient to show the taking of sterile instruments. So can be demonstrated that the practice takes great pain for hygienic.

MELAfol is microbe-proof, resistant to tearing, highly transparent, capable of heat-sealing, wrinkleresistant, and easy to open (with peelable sealing seams). The MELAfol has a treatment indicator that turns from blue to brown during steam sterilization. Additional attachment of indicator strips is not necessary. The MELAfol packages are sealed with the package sealing device MELAseal with a 10 mm wide seam.

For the release of the instruments sterilized in MELAfol and the traceability of the instruments employed on the patient to a specific sterilization batch, the containers can simply be identified with the MELAdoc Lable Printer.

Two helix reference block systems, the MELAcontrol and MELAcontrol PRO are available for the verification of successful sterilization in a class B autoclave.

The automatic documentation of the sterilization performed can be very simple and cost-effective depending on autoclave type by using the MELAflash, MELAprint 42 or MELAwin.
